Abstract

Brass or bronze chips, grindings, buftings, washings, and miscellaneous scrap metal sooner or later find their way into the hands of the so-called metal-smelter or " refiner," whose refining or smelting operation consists simply in melting the material, adding the requisite amounts of other metals, and then casting it in the form of ingots, which are afterwards sold
