Abstract

At the Boston Meeting of the American Institute of Mining Engineers in February last, Mr. George W. Mansfield read an interesting paper on " The Electric Motor in Mining Operations," and he entered into the calculations of power required and cost of transmitting energy in great or small quantities to a considerable distance. I do not intend to go over this ground, or to enter into any discussion of the technical details of transmitting power by electricity, but merely to set up a milestone on the road of progress to show where we now are, how far we have come, and if possible
