I desire to put on record this memorandum and accompanying sketch of a vein examined by me, in Honduras, Central America, which exhibits a well-marked banded structure. The illustration is of natural size: The vein traverses trachytic porphyry. It is from three to four inches wide. The central band, a, is of white quartz, one inch wide
