Abstract

ANY mining operation in the Altiplano of the Andean range presents problems and imposes obligations on the mining company not usually met with in the United States. The Aguilar mine is in a sparsely populated, semiarid region, 50 km by road from the Argentine State railroad station of Tres Cruces, Jujuy, Argentina. In starting an operation in such a location it becomes necessary for the mining company to prepare first for the needs of the required force of workmen and their families.
