Abstract
Copper concentrate from Bougainville's copper mine located on the west slope of the  Crown Prince Range on Bougainville island,  is pumped 27 km to the filter and drying  plant at Anewa Bay for preparation and storage prior to shipment to overseas customers. Prior to shipment the thickened concentrate slurry is passed through a test  loop to check that its consistency and pH are  acceptable for transportation through the main pipe line. The Bougainville pipe line is unique  since it is the world's first copper  concentrate system. where slurry is pumped an  appreciable distance against a high head,
