A description of the pollutants in water, and why they are pollutants. 4. The classification of waters as defined by major overseas countries. 5. The criteria and standards developed by major overseas countries for the classification of waters. 6. A brief- summary of the legislation adopted by overseas countries for the control of water pollution, and of the organisation and administration of controls. 7. A study of Australian legislation and administration of controls of water pollution. 8. General observations and conclusions.
