Abstract

In any strip coal mining operation the aosL important single operating unit is the dragline. Because the capital and operating costs of a dragline are high, it is desirable to operate these machines at their maximum efficiency. Thiess Bros. Pty. Limited operate a Bucyrus-Erie 1350 Walking dragline at their Callide coal mine. The operating conditions at the Callide Mine are different from those of other coal mines situated in Central Queens ,nd. The topography is rugged, the coal seam is thick, and the overburden is hard and inter- HH,inded.
