Abstract

During exploration and exploitation of complex ores, waste dumps that contaminate severely the environment and in particular soils, are genetated. The most hazardous pollutants are heavy metals and metalloids (e.g As, Mo, Pb and Cu) as well as radionuclides (e.g U and Ra). Ecological remediation aims, among others, at decontamination of soils by preserving important properties as soil fertility.
