Abstract

The size distribution and mechanical strength of the iron ore pellet burden are important parameters in determining the efficiency of the blast furnace. From the very outset, the guiding principle of our pellet quality improvement program was that these parameters are also the key to improving productivity and cost control at the pellet plant. Recognizing the need for improved blast furnace burdens and for higher productivity and lower costs at the pellet plant, Carol Lake operators, in conjunction with the IOC Pellet Quality Committee, established the following goals for the improvement of Carol pellets: [ ]
