Abstract

A PAPER presented in South Africa' during 1925 by H. A. White gave a formula to express the efficiency of classification. The formula was originally developed by H. W. Newton of The Dorr Co. The derivation of this formula is as follows: Where E = Over-all efficiency of classifier Eu = Efficiency with respect to sand discharge Eo = Efficiency with respect to overflow I = Tons feed to classifier (input) 0 = Tons overflow U = Tons sands (underflow) i = Fraction of oversize in classifier feed o = Fraction of oversize in overflow u = Fraction of oversize in sands
