Abstract

ELECTRICAL illumination of shafts, stations, and haulageways has been successfully practiced for many years, but its use in drifts and stopes where mining operations are carried on has- been limited. The large underground drifts of the Tri-State field present a lighting problem that is not satisfactorily solved by the use of the carbide lamp.
