This report was prepared by The Pennsylvania State University, College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, ' Department of Mineral Engineering, University Park, Pennsylvania, under USBM Grant No. GO-133077. The grant was initiated under the Coal Mine Health and Safety Research Program. It was administered under the technical direction of the Pittsburgh Mining and Safety Research Center with Mr. G. J. Conroy acting as the technical project officer. Mr. J. A. Herickes was the grant administrator for the Bureau of Mines. This report is a summary of the work recently completed as part of this grant during the period 19 June, 1973 to 17 June, 1975. This report was submitted by the authors on 18 July, 1974. This technical report has been reviewed and approved.
