Abstract
The Fracture Research Group has been operating at the University of the Witwatersrand for some ten years and, in that period, has achieved a significant profile, both nationally and internationally, through its research publications, industrially-based technical reports, continuing short courses in engineering education, and co1Jferences. This paper outlines the activities of the Group over the past few years, emphasizing the research thrusts and the results that have been obtained, as well as highlighting areas of current and future research interest The capabilities of the Group in terms of equipment and expertise are also discussed briefly.
