Abstract

Size reduction of material in aqueous pulps by the use of tumbling media overflow discharge mills is an important and common unit operation in industry. There also has been extensive attention given in recent decades on developing a more fundamental understanding of the breakage processes involved, especially in ball mills. These studies have mostly emphasized the use of size-mass balance or population balance approaches for quantifying the analysis and design of size reduction circuits, ego Austin, et al (1984).
