Abstract
HARVEY MUDD, mining engineer and distinguished citizen, has achieved that balance between professional and civic activities for which many of us strive but few attain. His able direction of mining operations is known to many Institute members but perhaps few know that he was in 1936 recipient of the annual award given by the City of Los Angeles to that citizen who contributed the most valuable and unselfish service to the community.
