Abstract

Reducing the cost per ton and increasing productivity are key factors in a mine’s profitability. Mining companies can do little about commodity prices. So to keep a mine operating at a profit, management must reduce costs and improve worker and equipment productivity in every facet of a mining operation. From mining to crushing to processing, mine management is constantly seeking new methods and technologies to improve the way it mines minerals. And it is willing to borrow techniques used by other operators.
