Abstract

This paper presents one of a series of digests of foreign mining legislation and court decisions that is being prepared in advance of a general report relative to the rights of American citizens to explore for minerals and to own and operate mines in various foreign countries . This interpretation of the mining law of Australia was first compiled from the best information available in Washington; it was then sent to the American Consulate General , in Australia, where through the direction of Thomas H. Robinson , American consul in charge , it was submitted for criticism to the mining authorities in the various States of Australia , whose suggestions have been incorporated in this digest .
