This interpretation of the laws - of Italy has been prepared, in part, from an aclysis made by John W. Frey, for merly associate mineral economist, U. S. Bureau of Mines. It incorporates addi- tional data and comments offered by Enrico Giobbe Della Pitta, a well-known Italian lawyer, in response to a questionnaire. These comments were forwarded by Harold H.
