Abstract
The U.S. Treasury stocks of silver have been reduced at such a rapid
rate to meet industrial and coinage requirements that they face exhaustion
in 3 or 4 years.
Alleviation of the silver problem will require increasing supply or
reduc ing demand.
This paper examines poss ible long-range resource development and research
programs and improved secondary recovery.
The possible reduction or elimination of silver in coinage and development
and introduction of substitutes in the arts and industry are also
discussed.
