Abstract
The unique characteristics of plasmas, their current applications, and ongoing research into new applications are described. Major technical and economic problems in application of plasma technology are discussed. Examples of potential applications of plasma in extractive metallurgy are described and evaluated. The report includes a selected bibliography of articles on plasma and related high-temperature technology.
