As part of the U.S. Department of the Interior programs on rutile, authorized by the Office of Emergency Preparedness in June 1967 under provisions of the Defense Production Act, the Bureau of Mines reviewed available literature on major proposed processes for producing rutile substitutes. The processes are grouped according to the major processing step, and important operating features are described. Sixty-one references are cited.
