Abstract

The Pittsburgh Mine Map Repository of the Bureau of Mines serves as a basic reference file for the archival preservation of mine map data of mines east of the Mississippi River. About 22,000 of an estimated 500,000 available mine maps have been microfilmed A computerized index serves as the mechanism for retrieval of any microfilmed mine map. The operation, equipment, and index are described in the report.
