Abstract
ALTHOUGH the cold-rolled texture for body-centered-cubic metals and alloys is well known (see, e.g., Barrett'), the pole figure representing the texture may be interpreted in two ways. It may be regarded as consisting of several ideal preferred orientations with an associated spread (a view which is shared among several investigators2), or it may be regarded as consisting of two sets of continuous preferred orientation also with an associated spread."." Recently, Chen and Maddin7 noted a stable (001) [loo] end orientation for molybdenum single crystals rolled at low rates of reduction provided the initial rolling. orientation" was close to the cube ori-
