Pit Optimisation using the Lerchs Grossman algorithm has been successfully applied in many deposits. Pit shells often form the basis for scheduling. Pre-assigned costs may not accurately reflect the costs that strategic scheduling decisions are based on. This can affect all mines, but is particularly true for commodities requiring blending.
