Abstract

A case study involving a historic structure undermined by longwall mining is presented in this paper. The location of this study is in South Western-Pennsylvania; USA. The structure is 150-years old and subsided 4.5 feet. This paper discusses the mitigation measures taken to reduce the subsidence damage and its effectiveness.
