Abstract

This paper will cover the progress being made on Phase 1 of New York’s Second Avenue Subway line. It will include a description of construction progress on the first contract to be let, which consists of a 248 m (815 ft) long launch box, 3.9 km(2.4 miles) of TBM tunnels and a tunnel sump; the packaging strategy for the remaining work; and the progress through Final Design of the remaining packages, including the two large span rock cavern stations.
