Abstract

The disposal of excess overburden from surface mining can be accomplished by use of a reclamation technique entitled head-of-hollow or valley fill. This report attempts to assess current valley fill regulations and practices, identifies inherent benefits and deficiencies, and develops concepts to enhance fill technology.
