Abstract

A series of workshops were conducted -with invited participants from the coal mining industry to identify the most pressing research and development needs of the industry. Six workshops were held on the following subjects; Research Priorities for Mining-Oriented Universities, R&D Needs-for Surface Coal Mining, R&D Needs for Deep Coal Mining, R&D Needs for Anthracite Coal Mining, R&D Needs for Coal Mine Health and Safety, and R&D Needs far Environmental Control in Coal Mining.
