Abstract
Most material balances on coal preparation plant flow diagrams are stated in tons per hour of solids and gallons or liters per minute of water. Balances expressed in these terms can be simplified when it is known that 4 gpm (15.1 L/min) of water is about equivalent to 1 tph (0.9 1 thr) of water. Some useful relationships follow
