Abstract

Ferrochrome, as the central constituent in stainless steels is one of the most rapidly growing primary metallic products. In this contribution results of a comprehensive study on the reduction process of chromite ore to FeCr are presented including thermodynamic examination, experimental work on kinetics and mechanisms in solid state, and smelting reduction conditions as well as kinetic modelling of solid state reduction.
