Abstract

The Brown Coal Liquefaction Process (BCL Process) has been developed by Nippon Brown Coal Liquefaction Co., Ltd. (NBCL), and a 50-ton-per -day Pilot Plant has been partially completed and put into operation by Brown Coal Liquefac- tion (Victoria) Pty., Ltd. (BCLV) at Morwell, Victoria, Australia. This Project has been sponsored by New Energy Development Organization (NEDO), an or- ganization associated with MITI, and has been promoted as a National Project with funding by the Japanese government. This project has also been conducted as a cooperative technology de- velopment project between the Japanese and Aus -tralian governments since 1980 and has been supported by the Victorian state government and
