Abstract

United States Steel Corporation Minntac Mine is located at Mt. Iron, Minnesota, on the Mesabi Iron Range. The taconite pit is two miles long by a mile wide, with a maximum depth of 170 feet. This paper will deal with the radio remote control of locomotives engaged in the railroad haulage of crude ore and waste rock at this property.
