Abstract
line fires pose a serious threat to the safety of all underground personnel. Early knowledge of the location of a fire in a complex underground mine would greatly reduce the associated risks by enabling miners to choose the safest escape routes, rescue teams to concentrate searches where survivors would most likely be found, and fire fighters to select the most efficient route to the fire and the most effective fire fighting strategy. Once'the fire's location is known, other related aspects of the fire can also be inferred, such as intensity, fuel, and growth Rate.
