Abstract

Langley is about nine miles north of Augusta, Georgia., on the Sou them :l;.ilv1ay. According to the South Carolina. Geological Survey, tr.e district is known a.s tr.􀀁 Horse Creek and Town Creek sub-areas of the Aileen or Savannah River Area 􀁐f the South Ciil.Z'olina Coastal Plains. The geology and origin of the clays 3l"e J􀏕scribea in a bulletin of the South Carolina Geological Survey (Series 4, Bull, l; "A Preliminary Report on Cl.:.ws of South Carolina.-), According to this report, i.he clays are sedimentary kaolins, in the Mid.dendor! and Hamburg series of the Cretaceous Age.
