Abstract

The Dobbins property, about 4-1/2 miles northeast of Cartersville, Ga., was fist operated in 1866, it is the oldest manganese mine in Georgia and one of the oldest minus in the United States still producing manganese ore. Changes in ownership, lessees, and operators and lack of records prevent the compiling of statistics regarding total production of ore from the property.
