Abstract
In the separation of a component from a mixture , two fractions are
obtained , one containing a high - percentage composition of the component and
the other a low - percentage composition . The high - percentage fraction is
frequently called the concentrate and the low - percentage fraction the tailing .
In many separation processes the recovery is not complete , and the composition
of the concentrate decreases as the recovery of the component, which
is concentrated , increases . It is this particular class of separations to which
this paper is confined .
