Abstract
Beryllium occurs in the Honeycomb Hills area in volcanic tuff similar to
the more extensive berylliferous tuff occurring 20 miles east at Spor Mountain
, Juab County , Utah . Samples from the two areas have been mineralogically
examined to ascertain whether they have similar characteristics . The Honeycomb
Hills samples showed the presence of beta- Be ( OH ) 2 , as well as an
amorphous berylliferous substance , whereas in the Spor Mountain tuff the
beryllium- bearing minerals are hydrated bertrandite and berylliferous saponite .
