Abstract
The mass spectra of 23 alkylthiophenes are presented , including 21 that
have not been previously reported . Correlations between mass spectra and the
structure of the thiophene homologs are discussed . Comparisons with , and
corroboration of , earlier workers ' correlations and predictions are made .
Several additional correlations are reported to enable the spectroscopist to
identify the substituents on alkyl - substituted thiophenes , and the relationship
of the mono - substituted and 2,5 - disubstituted alkylthiophenes is discussed
in detail .
