Abstract
The heat capacity of columbium (niobium) carbide (CbC ) was measured over
the temperature range from 51 ° to 298 ° K, and the entropy at 298.15° K was
evaluated . Also , the heat content above 298.15 ° K of columbium carbide was
measured to 1,800 ° K. The results were combined with the known heat of formation
at 298.15 ° K to obtain values of the heat and free energy of formation
over the temperature range from 298.15 ° K to 2,000 ° K.
