Abstract
This paper presents arguments which show that a velocity seismograph
should be used to measure building and ground vibrations produced by blasting .
However , portable velocity seismographs suitable for this type of measurement
are not commercially available . The paper describes how a velocity seismograph
can be assembled from commercially available velocity gages , amplifiers ,
and recorders . Also , specifications are given which could be used in the
design and manufacture of a portable velocity seismograph suitable for measuring
vibrations from blasting .
