Abstract

[The Bureau of Mines conducted bench-scale studies to develop techniques for stripping tetravalent cerium from tri-n-butyl phosphate solutions. Experiments were conducted in a constant-temperature bath using beakers and mechanical stirring. Ninety-five pct of the cerium was stripped from a 50-pct tri-n-butyl phosphate 50-pct kerosene solution containing 0.18 M cerium in 15 minutes at 50° C using 0.11 M aqueous formaldehyde.]
