With the author's background of extensive experience, this paper delineates the role of the prospector in modern-day exploration programs. The stages in the development of a prospect to a producing mineral district are outlined, and examples are given from the Ross River area of the Yukon Territory and the Peachland and Highland Valley areas of British Columbia.
