Abstract

MINE hoist ropes have hitherto been selected by successive approximation, a process both tedious and inexact. The proposed expression is a readily solved synthesis of existing data and the following standard equation:1 [ ] For convenience, a glossary of all terms appears on page 564. Since rope weight (Wr) and bending load (B) are functions of unit rope weight (Wo), which in turn is a function of rope strength (T), W, and B can be expressed in terms of T.
