Abstract

The authors deal with nickel production and usage patterns, nickel's first-use and end-use, examples of nickel applications in modern technology, e.g., energy generation and conservation, environmental protection, the oil and gas industry, construction and machinery, food production, conservation and distribution, consumer durables and the like. A special section of the paper is devoted to new applications of nickel in the electronic industry, modern corrosion control and the building and construction industries. The need to defend traditional markets for nickel while striving to find new applications, is also stressed.
