Abstract

This paper will review some of the work conducted in the past at the Dynamic Effects Laboratory to examine the use of stress waves and fracture mechanics in understanding dynamic fracture and fragmentation in blasting applications. Along the way, we will use photoelasticity and high-speed photography to better understand the mechanisms of fracture and fragmentation.CITATION:Fourney, W L, 2015.
