Abstract

Heap leaching for gold-silver recovery in the western United States has been widely applied. Advantages, disadvantages, and requirements of the method are discussed, as well as heap building, recovery systems, agglomeration applications, and safeguards against freezing. A list and review of current heap leach operations world-wide are presented, together with obvious opportunities for application of this innovative technique in new areas.
