Copper metal has important role in the basic industrials, as if it did not exist, modern human life would not develop! Copper leaching, as the first step, is important step in copper production processes. In this research, efficient factors on the leaching have been investigated. For this reason, four efficient factors on leaching namely pH, liquid to solid ratio (L/S), temperature and time, as independent variables, were optimized using response surface (RSM) with D-optimal. A quadratic equation was used to create response and contours. According to the results from analysis of variance (ANOVA), the value of determination coefficient (R2=96.77%) indicates that the model was good fit. Optimum experiment condition also was found: pH of 1, L/S of 8.24, temperature of 26.06 ? and time of 43.64 min. At this condition, the maximum recovery of copper was equaled to 92/38 in which good desirability achieved.

Fly ash is a by-product from coal-fired power stations that is captured from the exhaust gas stream by electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) or bag houses. It is mainly derived from the inorganic components in coal but also contains residual carbon from unburnt fuel (measured as LOI). In the past, nearly all fly ash was sent to landfills or tailings ponds by power generators but this trend is quickly changing due to landfill costs, sustainability requirements and the inherent value in correctly processed fly ash. The main property that makes fly ash suitable for recycling is its use as a pozzolan. Pozzolans exhibit cementitious properties that make them suitable for partial cement replacement, and that can have beneficial properties for concrete mix designs. Fly ash can be used to replace up to a third of the of the Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) requirement. Suitable fly ash nearly always requires the removal of the less reactive coarser fraction from the finer fraction. Due to the pozzolanic nature of fly ash, it must be processed dry and separation is normally required at 45 micron. In response to the increasing demand from a range of dry classification applications, Metso purchased an established air classification technology suitable for both mining and construction applications. The classifiers intelligent design efficiently utilizes the air flow which keeps power requirements low whilst including a scrubbing/recirculating function within the classifier that allows extremely efficient separations even at very fine sizes. This technology is of global interest to Fly Ash processors, but should be of particular interest in India which is both the second largest cement producer in the world as well as producing 80% of its power from thermal sources. This paper is intended to give a brief overview of fly ash and requirements for use as a pozzolan, air classification of fly ash and a case study from an established and experienced fly ash producer. This paper presents the results of pilot scale column flotation applications in the two different copper concentrators in Turkey. The Kure Copper Plant is located in the Black Sea Region of Turkey. In Kure, a very fine grinding requirement for an adequate level of liberation makes a successful flotation difficult and consequently the final concentrate can hardly assay above 16% Cu Column flotation tests were conducted at the plant site using two different column types The experiments proved that the grade of the concentrate could be increased from about 14% Cu to 25-26% Cu. Murgul Cakmakkaya Copper Concentrator is the largest copper concentrator in Turkey. Although concentrate production capacity is around 170,000 tons annually with 22-23% Cu content, this figure tends to be much lower than that. In Murgul a Turbo Column of Multotec Company of South Africa was employed. As a result of systematic column flotation tests, the grade of the concentrate was increased from 20.3% Cu to 28.7% Cu.

Beneficiation and dephosphorization of refractory oolitic hematite ore are investigated in this paper. It is shown that single magnetic separation, gravity separation or flotation is unable to recover iron effectively from the ore due to the complex mineralogy. The joint separation by spiral chute-shaking table shows a prospect for the treatment of the ore. An iron concentrate with 58.67% iron grade and 51.93% recovery is obtained by the joint separation of spiral chute and shaking table under the fineness of ?0.074mm 90% and dispersant dosage of 2kg/t for a sample ore of 37.51% Fe and 0.88% P. However, P content in the concentrate is still up to 0.52%. Dephosphorization from the concentrate is hence carried out. The final iron concentrate assaying 59.26% Fe and 0.056% P is obtained when the concentrate obtained by joint separation is leached by sulfuric acid of 1% (mass fraction) with solid percentage 10% at room temperature for 10min.

The relative abundance of coal in India compared to other fossil fuels makes it a natural choice as the primary source of fuel, be it for steel making, power generation or for other uses. The wide variations in nature and type of Indian coals formed during lower Gondawana period and categorized as difficult-to-wash due to its typical mineral matter association with the organic matrix call for suitable beneficiation techniques as the preferred option for quality upgradation. The good quality coking coals of the upper seams are fast depleting leaving behind the inferior quality lower seam coal. The lower seam coals presently being mined are mostly low volatile coking coal (LVC). They constitute about 50% of the total coking coal reserves in India. The beneficiation of Low Volatile Coking coals pose a major challenge and detailed R & D studies was taken up to study the beneficiation characteristics of these coals. The studies revealed that the liberation characteristics at coarser sizes are very poor and the coal is to be ground to finer sizes for liberation. The most important factor that determines coal cleaning efficiency is liberation of organic matter from mineral matter. To achieve liberation grinding is necessary as a result range amount of ultra fines (-0.063 mm) coal is generated. Presence of these large amount of ultrafine in the coal fines, often impose severe technical constraints affecting not only its floatability but also in the downstream treatment of the products like dewatering and cake formation particularly when it is beneficiating through froth flotation. In the present paper optimization of ultra fines (-0.063 mm) has been tried for a LVC coal of Jharia coal field for the better liberation and beneficiation of the above coal fines. The importance of brown coal as a raw material is currently given by growing energy needs of Czech Republic. More than 70% of mined brown coal comes from North Bohemian Basin these days. Mining of brown coal is run in four mining locations. They are geologically different and the parameters of mining coal are quite different too. This requires a little bit different methodology of both extraction and reclamation. Methods of reclamation works in the region are given mainly by the characteristics of overburden rocks appearing in the upper horizon of recuperated localities. The difficulties of the North Bohemian mine dumps reclamation works are caused by extremely unfavourable properties of rocks poured down to the majority of mine dumps. These are mainly rocks of the overlaying strata and the rocks strata of brown coal bed. Main materials poured down to the mine dumps are sands, clayey sands and kaolin ? illitic clays. Admixtures in filled rocks consist of organic (coal) mass, siderite and pyrite. These rocks are mechanically instable with respect to the wind and water erosion and during weathering they are getting unfavourable, acid (phytotoxic) nature, due to the influence of SO3 and Al ions. External and internal dumps of open pit mines are significant part of the North ? Bohemian landscape sustained by excavation. Their as fast as possible preparation and gradual integration into ecosystem of the area is interest of both citizens of region and mining companies. The paper briefly summarizes the methodology of restoration of the largest dumps of the North Bohemian Brown Coal Basin and the results of analyses and evaluation of samples taken on restored localities Rado-vesice dump, Strimice dump, Ru?odol dum pand internal dump of Bilina mine. An example of modern non-tradicional restoration methods is the restoration of internal dump of Bilina mine (application of power plant stabilizer). According to observations and results of sample analyses the methods of restoration were selected to limit the erosion influence, adjust the chemical and physical composition of surface of Radovesice and Strimice dumps. The application of marlites and bentonite prevent the unfavourable weathering processes on dump surface. Compensation of Quaternary sediments was artifically formed here. The need of marlite ploughing in, application of organical substrates and vegetation preparation was proved on Radovesice dump. The conception of landscape reclamation of the largest dumps after finishing of mining, methodology of technical reclamation and well considered using of fertilizable soils are main results presented in this article.

Banded hematite jasper (BHJ) containing 45.2% Fe, 32.64% SiO2, 0.63 % Al2O3 and 1.25 % LOI is found difficult to beneficiate either by magnetic or flotation techniques due to fine intergrowth of jasper with hematite. Phase transformation by reduction roasting with activated charcoal followed by low intensity magnetic separation to achieve a suitable iron concentrate has been attempted in this study. The mineralogy of the ore and different roasted products has been studied by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) to understand the reduction mechanism. The magnetite formation is observed at 850ºC while metallic iron appeared at a higher temperature. The effects of reduction variables such as reduction time (30-270 min), temperature (750-1050ºC), and reductant (1-12 %) using activated charcoal are studied. An iron concentrate with 64.65% Fe and 55.8% recovery could be obtained under optimum conditions of temperature: 850ºC, time: 1.5 h, and reductant: 6% by weight.

This study compares the use of an aminophosphonate chelating resin Purolite S950 and a sulphonic acid strong cation exchange resin Purolite C160H to recover nickel and cobalt from the synthetic bioleach solutions. Batch adsorption of metal citrate is performed as a function of metal citrate concentration (15~2000 mg/L) and solution pH (0.01M and 0.1M citric acid). The adsorption mechanism as inferred from the fit to Langmuir (LM), Freundlich (FM) and Redlich-Peterson (RP) models demonstrates that nickel citrate adsorbed onto C160H appears monolayer in comparison to that adsorbed onto S950 exists multilayer. In contrast, cobalt citrate adsorption onto both C160H and S950 agrees with the LM model. The results have shown that loading capacities of nickel and cobalt citrate onto C160H are 60 and 65 mg/g whereas those observed onto S950 are 16mg/g and 6 mg/g respectively. These are achieved in metal citrate prepared in 0.1 M citric acid. Resin regeneration is conducted in using 2 M nitric acid solution. The results show high efficiency of nickel and cobalt citrate elution from Purolite C160H. Findings from this study suggest Purolite C160H is a suitable adsorbent for recovering nickel and cobalt from bioleaching solutions.

Mining activities belong to human history, they are lost in the mists of time. They usually impact on large portions of the territory, both directly (exploitation areas and logistic activities directly related to exploitation) and indirectly (exploited material handling, processing and storage areas). As a result, at the end of mine life cycle, dismissed areas usually cannot be directly re-utilized without efficient and well addressed rehabilitation actions. Main goal of the proposed approach was to analyze the results obtained when a set of procedures, based on the collection and the analysis of remote sensed data, is developed to evaluate the effect of rehabilitation of land contaminated by extractive industry activities and to perform a monitoring and registration of the environmental impact of such operations by the application and the integration of modern information technologies, as Earth Observation (EO) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The study was developed in the framework of the EU-Asia program of the European union (EXTRACT-IT Project-Contract No: CN/ASIA IT&C/006 (89870): Application of Information Technologies for the sustainable management of Extractive industry activities) and it was addressed to three different dismissed mine areas in India, Thailand and China, respectively. The results, in terms of methodologies selected, strategies applied and results obtained, are described with particular reference to Fuxin coal mine area in China.

2-hydroxy-3-naphthoy hydroxamic acid code name F203 is a good collector of cassiterite, 1-hydroxy-2-naphthoy hydroxamic acid code name ZJ-3. F203 and ZJ-3 are similar series of isomers. They have similar naphthye, and similar series of functional OH and ?CONHOH, but the seat of OH and ?CONHOH group are different, on the F203 is 2.3; on the ZJ-3 is 1.2, ortho position too. According to Isomeric principle ZJ-3 is a good collector of cassiterite slime too. Using ZJ-3 as collector flotation -10µm occupies 90%, grade 1.16% Sn cassiterite slime of Da Chang Chehe concentration plant, pass one coursing flotation, two cleaning and one scarenging flotation, and obtains grand 18.26% Sn, recovery 92.68% cassiterite concentrate. The result proves the Isomeric principle of flotation reagents is correct again. This principle may supply to synthetize new flotation reagents reference. Reverse flotation process tests were conducted for marine sedimentary silicon-calcium phosphate ore in this research. The research findings showed that by adding antifoamer, a concentrate with P2O5 32.36%, SiO2 10.69%, MgO 0.67% was obtained, with recovery of P2O5 being 88.12%. Such is a satisfying result, when compared with the original mineralogical component of P2O5 26.64%, SiO2 11.51% and MgO 3.36%. When using antifoamer, the SiO2 grade of the concentrate increased 0.55%, the MgO grade decreased 0.64%, while P2O5 recovery increased 2.69% compared by adding no antifoamer. Adding antifoamer is favorable to increase the grade and recovery of P2O5. Therefore, antifoamer is necessary. Tests of synergistic reaction of antifomer indicate that the appropriate consumption of the antifoamer is 275g/t CY and 1Kg/t TWF. The feed of flotation unit in Angouran mine, as a part of Iranian Lead and Zinc National Corporation, contains about 34.26% zinc (about 12% Zn sulphide) and 10.14% lead (about 2% Pb sulphide). The grade of Pb and Zn in the final concentrate (rougher+scavenger), under optimal conditions (200 g/ton PEX, 500 g/ton zinc sulfate, 30 g/ton MIBC and pH = 7.5), was 63.18% and 13.01%, respectively, and the total Pb (sulphide-oxide) recovery was about 19% which included 95% Pb sulphide. The grade of Pb and Zn in rougher concentrate step was about 71.86% and 5.97%, respectively, when PEX (Potassium Ethyl Xanthate) was used as collector. While in the presence of PAX (Potassium Amyl Xanthate), the grade of Pb and Zn in rougher concentrate step was 66.8% and 10%, respectively. Tailing of the galena flotation (with 8.48% Pb grade and 34.92% Zn grade under the optimal conditions) was used as a feed for sphalerite and oxide section flotation.

As is known, the oxidized antimony and antimonate are hard to treat. A new combined mineral processing flowsheet which is controlled in grinding and classification ?bulk floatation?gravity separation is adopted to dispose of gravity-separated tailings (antimony content: 1.48%; oxidization rate: 68.92%) in Muli Antimony Mine, the grade of floatation antimony concentrates is 32.64%; the grade of gravity-separated antimony concentrates is 26.99%; the combined grade of floatation and gravity-separated antimony concentrates is 30.85%, and the total recovery of antimony is 70.64%. Adopting the new mineral processing technique have solved the problem of over grinding of antimony ore by controlling grinding and classification, recovering effectively the sulfide antimony and the easy floatable oxidized antimony of fine size by bulk floatation, recovering effectively the oxidized antimony which is hard to float by classified gravity separation. This is a great breakthrough in the mineral processing technique of the recovery of the oxidized antimony. At present, favorable economic benefit has been obtained from the application of this processing technique in Muli Antimony Mine.

The recycling schemes of copper mineral to a copper raw ore produced in China is investigated in this paper, of which is aimed at copper concentrate‘s grade is over 26.00% and recovery is over 90.00%. The primary copper mineral the raw ore is chalcopyrite and the main gangue minerals are quartz, orthoclase, albite, clinochlore and phlogopite. There are four useful metal elements contained in the copper raw ore, which are Cu, Pb, Zn, Au and Ag, and the grade of each is 3.75%, 0.01%, 0.11%, 0.31 and 483.5 g/t. Two floating recycling schemes and its corresponding flotation reagent system were determined. The results show that calcium oxide, sodium carbonate and sodium sulphide were used as regulators, sodium n-butylxanthate was used as collector and terpenic oil was used as frother in two floating recycling schemes are effective. The open-circuit test’s results show that the copper mineral contained in raw ore can be effective collected, and both concentrates gotten through two schemes are up to grade.

Rare and rare earth metals use quite often is an indicator of national economy development. The world structure of the rare-earth metals manufacturing countries in 2015 was presented as follows: China – 94.2%, India – 2.0%, Russia – 1.8%, the USA – 1.2%, Brazil – 0.5%, Malaysia – 0.3%. In Russia, large reserves of rare-earth metals, which reach nearly 28 million tons, are revealed. Kazakhstan, possessing a raw materials source of rare-earth metals, has all prerequisites for development of branch. Rare metals are manufactured in Kazakhstan incidentally by non-ferrous metals production. The production of indium, thallium, cadmium, selenium, tellurium, bismuth is made at the Ust-Kamenogorsk lead plant; tantalum, beryllium, niobium and molybdenum – at the enterprises of “National Atomic Company Kazatomprom” JSC. Production of a titanium, magnesium and vanadium is adjusted on “Ust-Kamenogorsk Titanium-magnesium Plant” JSC. Capacities for beryllic production yield are available on “Ulba Metallurgical Plant” JSC. The main producer of perrhenic production and osmium-187 is "Zhezkazganredmet" RSE. The single producer of gallium in Kazakhstan is “Aluminium of Kazakhstan” JSC; the capacity of enterprise is 25 t a year. In Kazakhstan innovative technologies for rare and rare earths mineral raw materials processing are created. The technology has been developed and a vacuum distillation apparatus has been created to purify crude selenium, which makes it possible to obtain a metal with a main component content of 99.9-99.99%. Technologies for processing of technogenic wastes and byproducts of the copper industry are developed. Implementation of technologies allow to obtain ammonium perrhenate, perrhenic acid, osmium isotope -187, tribasic lead sulphate, silver-concentrate. The technology of complex processing of black shales of Balasauskandyk deposit with the production of gold, vanadium, rare earth elements, uranium and ferrosilicon has been proposed. The processing was carried out using methods of autoclave leaching, sorption, extraction, precipitation. A highly profitable sorption technology for recovery of rhenium from solutions of underground leaching of uranium ores containing 0.2-0.4 mg/L of Re has been created. The organization of ammonium perrhenate production from solutions of uranium ore will significantly increase the volume of its production in Kazakhstan.

In flotation, particulate materials are separated by controlling the hydrophobicity of the particles using appropriate collectors. In this regard, contact angle (?) is the most important process variable. However, the flotation models used in industry today do not include ? as a parameter. As result, flotation circuits are designed based on the first-order flotation rate constants (k) determined from laboratory experiments. A problem with this approach is that laboratory experiments usually give substantially higher k values than achievable in full-scale operations, which makes it difficult to use the model for plant design. In the present work, we have developed a model from first principles using both surface chemistry and hydrodynamic parameters, such as ?, ?-potentials, surface tension (?), particle size, energy dissipation rate, etc. The basic approach is similar to the one developed previously for bubble-particle interactions under laminar flow conditions (Yoon and Mao, J. Colloid and Interface Science, 181, 61, 1996) except that the model parameters have been modified by considering the turbulence in a flotation cell. In addition, the model describes the recovery processes in froth phase, including bubble-coarsening due to coalescence. Based on this model, we have developed a computer simulator (FlotSim) that can be used to design flotation circuits from the mineralogical (or liberation) data on the feed and the hydrodynamic characteristics of a flotation machine. Since the model is dynamic, it can also be used for process control. Further, the simulator has predictive capacity as it is based on a first-principles model. The model-based simulator has been validated in a carefully controlled bench-scale flotation experiments. According to the Darcy?s law, filtration rate should increase with increasing pressure drop (?P) across a filter cake. In centrifugal filtration, ?P is created by the free water present on the surface of a filter cake. Thus, ?P can become negative when the free water disappears from the cake surface, which makes it difficult to achieve low cake moistures. In the present work, we have developed methods of overcoming this problem by either increasing the air pressure inside or applying vacuum outside a centrifuge. Laboratory dewatering tests conducted using these provisions showed that the moistures of various minerals and coal fines can be reduced to the level that can obviate the need for thermal drying. The new concept has been successfully tested both at pilot- and full-scale, which lead to commercial deployment through Decanter Machine, Inc., under the trade name Centribaric® centrifuge. Single particle impact breakage experiments provide essential data to aid in understanding of rock fracture in comminution. Such experiments, conducted using devices such as the drop weight tester, split Hopkinson bars and more recently the rotary breakage tester, have been successfully used to characterize ore breakage properties in relation to measured fracture energies. The work presented in this paper highlights the techniques behind the calculation of impact breakage properties from each of these three devices. The breakage parameters that can be calculated from experimental data from each of these are to be described. Drop weight tests are used to calculate A and b hardness parameters using the standard JK breakage model. Split Hopkinson pressure bars are used to establish the ultimate compressive stress of particles through single impact breakage tests and the fraction of impact energy utilized to cause particle fracture. Low energy breakage tests using the rotary breakage tester are shown to be used in calculating particle breakage probability. Methods to calculate parameters related to particle breakage probabilities such as E0 and Ecrit are also discussed.

"This paper presents a new magnetic separator, which can be applied to increase the grade of fine magnetite ore feeding of ball mill. This innovative equipment possesses a rotating magnetic system and has a magnetic field of rapid polarity change which can strengthen the destruction of magnetic agglomerations and the dispersion of minerals to improve the quality of separation. Now this type separators have been successfully applied in several large concentrating plants such as Shuichang Iron Mine under Shouang Mining Company in China. Finally, this paper outlines practical results focused on feed grade and tailing yield, the results are showing that the quality of feeding can be improve tremendously. Hence, a new generator of rotating magnetic field has been paved. INTRODUCTION Jidong region in China is the important origin of iron ore, the characteristics of the iron ore in this region is low grade and complex, the iron mine discharges fine powder tailings reaches tens of millions of tons each year, in the wind action easy to form sand, this poses a threat to the atmosphere environment of Beijing. In order to reduce the mixing of large amount of useless ore and reduce the energy consumption of mill operation, a high efficiency pregrinding equipment is needed. Rotating magnetic field separator (RMS) is an advanced equipment, the main advantage of RMS is the significant reduction in particle entrapment and can easily break magnetic agglomeration. This reduction is so significant that RMS is capable of operating very close to theoritical limit for separator precision and can increace efficiency in selection process.Some expenrimental work on dry rotating magnetic field separation has been carried out in July 1998 in the company Ka Pty Ltd, then in 2008 BGRIMM developed industrial separation XCTG0816 in Shandong province . The wet RMS was researched in1960s in Former Soviet Union and the first industrial equipment was developed by BGRIMM in 1970s,then in 1990s wet RMS was applied in Ansteel group corporation. In 2017,6 units large wet RMS (SXCT1230)which were the largest RMS was applied in Sichuan province. No matter wet RMS and dry RMS, although they are used in differenct applications, they have some common research.in addition ,they all have good use effect."

The constant of flotation velocity is the value characterizing the kinetics of cyclic flotation. In the statistical theory of flotation its value is the function of probabilities of collision, adhesion and tearing off the grain from the air bubble. The grain ? air bubble collision plays a key role since there must be a prior collision before the grain ? air bubble adhesion happens. The probability of such an event to occur is proportional to the relation of the grain diameter to the bubble diameter. When the grain sizes are given, it is possible to control the value of collision probability by means of the size of air bubbles. Consequently, it is significant to find the effect of physical and physicochemical factors upon the diameter of air bubbles in the form of a mathematical dependence. In the pneumo-mechanical flotation machine the air bubbles are generated by the blades of the rotor. The dispergation rate is affected by, among others, the rotor rotational speed, the amount of air transported to the flotation chamber an time and the liquid surface tension, depending on the type and number of applied flotation reagents. In the proposed paper the authors will present the distribution of air bubble diameters on the grounds of the above factors, according to the laws of thermodynamics. The correctness of the de-rived dependences will be verified empirically.
