"The Golden Manitou mine is in the northeast quarter of Bourlamaque township, Abitibi county, Quebec. During the summer of 1937 a body of gold-silver-zinc ore was outlined in a series of diamond drill holes located to the west of an old copper-zinc showing in the property of Quebec Manitou Mines, Limited. In 1938, a shaft was sunk and the orebody further explored from levels at depths of 210 and 360 feet.In 1941 the western half of the Quebec Manitou property was acquired by a new company, Golden Manitou Mines, Limited, and the installation of a mining and milling plant was at once undertaken. Milling started in August 1942. The following is a summary of production to December 31, 1946:The orebodies are sulphide replacements in a sericite schist shear zone. They vary in width from 8 feet to 65 feet and range in length up to 850 feet . Much of the ore is of the 'massive sulphides' type . The sulphide minerals in the ore are pyrite and sphalerite with minor quantities of .galena, tennantite, chalcopyrite, and arsenopyrite. Native silver (as wire and leaf silver) has been found in vugs and as coatings along fractures. In one section of the mine a few specks of gold were observed. Spectrographic analysis of ore samples has indicated the presence of zinc silicate."

"The composition and the possible utilization of a slag sample from a nickel smelter operation in the Sudbury district were investigated. The sample containing 0.136% Ni, 0.10% Co and 0.29% Cu could be characterized as a fayalit e slag with a sulphide bearing glass matrix. While the fayalite contains most of the Co, Ni is enriched within both sulphides and fayalite. Cu is only present in higher amounts in sulphides or metallic droplets. This, as well as the small grain sizes of the mineral phases, inhibits significant enrichment by mechanical methods. However preconcentration is possible by means of magnetic separation. An effective hydro metallurgical approach proved to be oxygen pressure leaching with sulphuric acid. Accordingly, the method proposed for processing the investigated slags is to combine the normal utilization as coarse construction material with pressure leaching of the fines and the ground upgraded magnetic fraction. Besides the recovery of base metals, the leaching process yields fine-grained residues, which, after addition of CaD, will set to a cement-like material, or can be used as a pozzolanic cement colour. INTRODUCTIONDuring the pyro metallurgical processing of nickel ores, the valuable metals nickel, cobalt and copper are enriched within the sulphide matte, similar to the smelting of copper ores. The resulting waste materials are slags, which may still contain valuable metal contents of up to 0.5% or above . These contents are close to the cut-off grades of some nickel-cop per-cobalt deposits. The methods that are used to recover copper from slags comprise in general further pyro metallurgical treatment, often after enrichment by flotation. Another area of application for such slags is their use as construction material. However, this might cause environmental problems if nickel containing dusts are produced.Based on one example, the characerization and a possible way of complete utilization of nickel smelter slag s as construction materials in combination with partial base metal recovery are described in this paper. The investigated slag sample was obtained from a dump site in the Sudbury district, Ontario. Detailed test series for process optimization were not possible during this study due to the limited available sample size."

"In recent years, computer based ""expert systems"" have been taking on large complex tasks for which no exact algorithmic solutions are feasible; tasks previously reserved for human experts requiring empirical knowledge, judgment, experience, developing a ""best solution "" by the use of plausible reasoning. Mining method selection is an appropriate area for the application of an expert system because extensive and detailed knowledge is required to make a ""best"" interpretaion of frequently ambiguous geological information. The expert system model presented here would enable users to apply expert knowledge to the evaluation of methods for coal deposits mineable by underground methods. IntroductionIn an increasingly complex and specialized world, human expertise spanning scientific, economic, social and political issues plays an increasingly important role in all branches of engineering. This is especially true of mining engineering. The number of scientific and professional disciplines involved in mine planning and evaluation, illustrates the problem. A conservative list includes geology, geophysics, geotechnics, hydrology, mining, environment, and economics.Engineers are almost obliged to be experts in at least one of the above disciplines if they are to handle the volume of information required in the planning process. Although computers have become indispensable tools in many endeavours, there is continued reliance on the human expert's ability to identify and synthesize these diverse factors, to form judgments, evaluate alternatives , and make decisions . This is especially true with regard to problems that are not easily amenable to precise formulations.The precious resource of human expert is also fragile and transient. The departure of a crucial expert from an organization ma y cause serious dislocations. Senior experienced people impart their knowledge of younger colleagues, but the demand for their talent may not leave sufficient time for such educational efforts. "Keymet Mine lies on the Elmtree River 4 miles west of Petit Rocher and about 18 miles northwest of Bathurst, Gloucester County, New Brunswick. A good gravel road runs through the property.The deposit was discovered in 1880 when a vein 7 to 8 feet wide was re-ported. In 1883 the first shaft was sunk as part of an exploration program which was carried out sporadically until 1897, when the company dissolved. Activity on the property was intermittent until 1946 when the property was again staked and during the next year diamond drilling intersected the vein in several places. In December 1949 Coulee Lead and Zinc Mining Company optioned the property and held it until its sale to Keymet Mines Limited in June 1952. By July of the same year work had begun on a three-compartment shaft.Early development work was concentrated on the 150, 300 and 450 foot levels but the shaft has since been sunk to I,228 feet to allow for eight levels at intervals of 150 feet. Little lateral work has been done to date below the 600-foot level.The first mill constructed to treat the ore was to go into production in the spring of 1954, but was destroyed by fire. A second mill, having a capacity of 200 to 300 tons a day, was officially opened October 25th, 1954. Present shipments are zinc and copper-lead-silver concentrates.The rocks of the area are shale, conglomerate, limestone, and quartzite with minor interbedded volcanic rocks, all probably of Silurian age. Small plugs of Devonian acidic intrusions occur 3 miles east and about 5 miles northwest of the mine. Minor dykes of both acidic and basic rocks occur on the mine property. In many of the fine-grained sedimentary rocks the more brittle laminre have been brecciated and give the rock the appearance of an argillaceous conglomerate."

"SUMMARYIn cooperation with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, selected deposits of Potsdam sandstone in the Ottawa-Kingston area were core-drilled and evaluated by CANMET as potential glass and foundry sand. Analyses of cores ranged from 84.6 to 98.5% Si02, 0.09 to 0.65% Fe203' and 0.07 to 2.10% A12°3' The cores were largely composed of white to grey, relatively tough sandstone. Impurities included iron as pyrite, iron oxides and staining on the quartz grains; carbonates as calcite; and aluminum oxide as feldspar. Beneficiation included size reduction to grain size, about 600 um, by jaw, roll and cone crushers, and grinding in a muller-mixer. Removal of fines was achieved by attrition scrubbing and washing. Further removal of impurities was achieved by reverse flotation of pyrite, iron oxide, feldspar, and carbonate minerals employing both anionic and cationic collectors. Flotation resulted in a substantial improvement in the quality of most samples; analyses of quartz concentrates showed 98.5 to 99.7% Sial> 0.022 to 0.156% Fe203' and 0.07 to 0.62% A1203. Further reduction of the iron content by wet magnetic separation and acid leaching also was investigated. On the basis of the samples submitted, sands/ones from six of the seven deposits studied have potential as sources of glass sand. Foundry sand tests were inconclusive because of the small quantities available for study."

"New techniques in monitoring surveys and new methods in the analysis and prediction of ground subsidence are being developed in the Department of Surveying Engineering at the University of New Brunswick (UNB). The new surveying techniques include a telemetry monitoring system developed at UNB in cooperation with CANMET, and use of the satellite Global Positioning System. A generalized approach to the analysis of deformation surveys has been developed which permits an integrated analysis of geodetic and geotechnical measurements in geometrical modelling of ground subsidence. A computer program, FEMMA, has been developed for the elastic and non-linear elastic analysis and the deterministic prediction of deformations using the finite element method.IntroductionResearch and development of new monitoring techniques and new methods in the analysis and prediction of ground subsidence in mining areas is an integral part of a broad research program on deformation surveys which is being carried out in the Department of Surveying Engineering at the University of New Brunswick.The research concentrates on:developmentof a general method for predicting deformations with an emphasis on the use of the non-linear elastic finite element analysis; development of a generalized approach to the geometrical analysis of deformation surveys with an integration of geodetic and geotechnical measurements; and development of new monitoring techniques with an emphasis on continuous data acquisition and application of new space techniques such as the satellite Global Positioning System (GPS).This paper gives a brief report on the progress and recent developments within the above program."

"The Kiruna Electric System is a recently developed inclined ore haul age system for underground mining operations. Although an initial investigation was carried out at the Swedish underground iron ore mine LKAB almost three decades ago, it was not until 1981 that the resources of LKAB, ASEA and Kiruna Truck AB were combined to investigate, and subsequently develop an ""all- electric truck"" for the mining industry.It has long been appreciated, that major economical advantages could be realized by a mining operation through an extension of the cost-effective life of the existing ore hoisting system by the use of ramps to haul ore up to the main haulage level. Diesel truck s have been used and are being used for ramp haulage. Their use however, is limited due to ventilation and operating costs restraints.There are numerous instances of orebodies, located within a couple of hundred metre s of surface, or below an existing hoisting facility, being developed by ramp access while the shaft is being sunk. Development of an orebody via ramp access has many advantages to a mining operation where mechanized mining is to be practiced. These advantages are both practical and economical; generally falling within the over-all umbrella of the phrase ""cash flow"" mining.The decision to sink a shaft is a major committment by any mining company, regardless of size and financial reserves. Extensive diamond drilling, both shallow and deep must be carried out before a decision can be executed. This constitutes a major financial expenditure over an extended period of time.The decision to sink a shaft must be weighed against the reliability of geological interpretation of the deep diamond drilling results, the stability of the mineral market and potential fluctuation in ore prices and interest rates."

"The paper takes its material from three peat mining and power project feasibility studies sponsored by CANMET and conducted by Montreal Engineering Company Ltd. in the years 1976 to 1980. The role which peat may play in the Canadian energy prospectus is outlined, estimated and measured fuel peat resources are tabulated, and the economic and technical feasibility of mining peat for power generation is reviewed Recommendations are made for future work, and construction and disbursement schedules are developed for a combined peat mining and power generation project. The relationship between the mining of moss and fuel peat is discussed.IntroductionWhereas moss peat has long been produced in Canada, and exported for horticultural use , the underlying fuel peat has received little attention until fairly recently.In the seventies, however, the deepening oil crisis spurred Canadian interest in Irish, Finnish and Russian experiences in the utilization of fuel peat. Among others, Energy, Mines and Resources Canada had long been alive to the possibilities which indigenous peat offers, and in 1976 the Canada Centre for Mineral and Energy Technology (CANMET encouraged a proposal from Monenco to carry out a preliminary study and submit a report on the "" Assessment of Canadian Peat as an Alternative Fuel for Power Generation"". The report was submitted in April 1977. This was the first of a series of studies, and the authors of this paper were involved in its preparation.The escalating price of oil and the increasing problem of relying on its availability have combined to make alternative fuels more attractive. Peat, like other fuels previously uneconomic because oil was cheap, is now progressively gaining in viability. In addition to these factors, the utilization of peat has the following advantages: improvement in the country's balance of payments, by virtue of burning an indigenous fuel;creation of local employment for the mining of peat; improvement in land utilization;peat is a relatively clean-burning fuel, with low sulphur and ash contents."

"The localization of orebodies by geological structures is well demonstrated at the Copper Mountain mine of southwestern British Columbia. These extensive deposits; owned and workd by the Granby Consolidated Mining; Smelting and Power Company; are at Princeton; abo!lt 150 miles east of Vancouver and 40 miles north of the International boundary. The geology of the deposits and the surrounding district is described by the present writer in Memoir 171 of the Geological Survey of Canada; pub1ished in 1934.The main geological feature is a gabbro stock, elliptical in plan, with a major axis about 5 miles in length extending in a northwest-southeast direction. The stock varies in composition from syeno-gabbro (gabbro plus orthoclase) through diorite and syenite to a core of syenite pegmatite. All the members contain orthoclase, which ·increases greatly in amount toward the centre, but all are devoid of quartz. The stock has been injected into a steeply folded series of volcanic flows, breccias, and tuffs that strike more or less parallel with the major axis of the stock. On its northeast side the stock is flanked by a band of fairly coarse volcanic breccia of andesitic composition and ·having fragments up to several inches in length. Where this breccia is tangential to the stock it is both dynamically and chemically metamorphosed to a marked degree, and within the zone of this metamorphism are enclosed the copper deposit~. The ore consists of bornite, chalcopyrite, and a little magnetite occurring as disseminated grains and small veinlets in the metamorphosed breccias. The only gangue minerals are orthoclase, albite, oligoclase, and biotite. The two most common vein minerals, quartz and pyrite, are conspicuously rare or absent. The dynamic metamorphism has produced two well-defined structures, namely, a strong schistosity parallel with the curved vertical contact of the stock and a very striking set of small, straight, nearly parallel open fractures that stand nearly vertical and at right angles to both the schistosity and the stock contact. These are called the ore fractures."

The St. Canul and Ste. Scholastique orthoquartzite sanrjstone deposits are located within the Potsdam Formation near Montreal. The sandstone lies on Precambrian basement and is Cam/3rian to Ordovician in age. The Potsdam Formation shows two distinct stages of development. One created a deepwater facies represented by impure, limey or shaley sandstone; the other produced a shallow facies composed of grey, highpurity sandstone. The shallow-water orthoquartzitic sandstone at St. Canul is being mined and beneficiated by lndusmin Limited. The operation manufactures a wide range of silica products and supplies industrial areas of Quebec and Ontario with material for the glass, foundry, silicon carbide and ceramic industries.

Substantial cost savings have been demonstrated by material design changes after initial product development. As more information about a product's operating environment becomes available to a designer, it is possible to consider a more costeffective material that still meets or exceeds the design intent, such as minimum low cycle fatigue life. This is especially true in the aircraft engine industry, where precise operating cycle data is not available until after the first engine is built and tested. A methodology for predicting estimated low cycle fatigue life has been developed to investigate potential material change candidates for an aft cooling plate. A twodimensional macromechanical finite element model (FEM) has been developed using ANSYS and used to determine the effects of varying material properties. It is shown that slight changes in density, coefficient of thermal expansion and modulus of elasticity have profound effects on component and effective stresses, and therefore, estimated low cycle fatigue (ELCF) life. "An interactive computer model of a dragline, windrow and spoil pile has been developed for modelling oil sands mining operations. The model is to be used in conj unction with models of other oil sands mining equipment, such as bucket-wheel excavators and reclaimers, conveyors, hoppers, bins, trucks and shovels, to study mining operations on a minute-by-minute basis. From the orebody description and mining selectivity, layers of ore and reject are determined and mined by the dragline. Reject is dumped on the pit floor; ore is either dumped on a windrow for later removal by a bucket-wheel reclaimer or directly dumped into a hopper feeding a conveyor. The model allows for the presence of pads as a dragline base, key cuts and a number of interruptions to the mining operation such as shift changes, boom checks, engineering services, repairs, delays, preventative maintenance, etc. A CRT display keeps the model operator informed about equipment status and performance. The model operator can direct the course of the simulation by issuing commands to the model at any time during the simulation.IntroductionThis paper describes an interactive computer model of a dragline, windrow and spoil pile. The model was designed by the author based on information and specifications provided by Canstar Oil Sands Ltd. The model design was implemented and tested on Petro-Canda's IBM computer system by DMR and Associates Ltd. of Calgary, Alberta.The model was designed to form three components of an oil sands mining operations model, described in reference I. Figure 1 shows the interaction of those components with the remainder of the oil sands mining model.An ""Ore/Waste Body"" data base provides information to the dragline model about the location and composition of or e and waste in the mine. The dragline model is used to simulate mining this ore/waste body, to build up spoil piles for center reject (waste) and to dump ore onto windrows or hoppers (situated over conveyors) to deliver the ore to the extraction plant. The windrow model component provides a data base which will be used by a model of a bucket-wheel reclaimer which simulates the loading of ore from the windrow on to a conveyor via a bridge."

"Monometallic zinc mineralization associated with marbles of the Grenville Supergroup in the Mont-Laurier Basin of Quebec is found to be stratiform and to occur (1) within limited zones of dolomitic marble and (2) more precisely along contacts between these marbles and adjacent metaclastic units. Massive sphalerite with accompanying pyrrhotite and pyrite is the prime exploration target, and commonly gives rise to good geochemical anomalies, but generally weak and ambiguous geophysical responses. Disseminated sphalerite in dolomitic marbles may signal proximity to interesting massive mineralization, although, due to weathering, this broadly disseminated mineralization may not be detected easily on outcrops. It is concluded that the western and possibly the eastern margin of the Mont-Laurier Basin constitute favourable areas for continued exploration.IntroductionThe Grenville Supergroup marbles of Ontario, Quebec and New York State host numerous occurrences of zinc mineralization (Fig. I) , several of which have been periodically mined since the beginning of this century (Fig. 2). The Balmat Edwards district of New York is the giant of this depo sit-type, with the production since 1915 of some 20 million tons of ore grading 10% zinc, and acknowledged current reserves of approximately equal tonnage and grade. At present, there is renewed interest in the potential for similar mineralization throughout the Grenville Supergroup, and this paper outlines some of the geological, geochemical and geophysical guidelines that may be employed in the search for new ore. The geologic guidelines are derived especially from lithologic and stratigraphic features which survived intense, multiphase deformation and metamorphism.Although major portions of the extensive Grenville Supergroup hold potential for zinc mineralization, the present study is confined to a known zone of mineralization in the Mont-Laurier Basin of Quebec. Concurrently, we are compiling information on the regional metallogeny of the basin so that our conclusions can be applied to areas of similar Grenville Supergroup host-rocks elsewhere."

MR. R. V. NEILY stated that he had at one time operated at Goldenville. The practice and results are much the same now as in the olden days. Inside plates were then found to be a source of trouble and had been removed. At the Libbey mine, Queen's county, the sulphides carried considerable gold, and $45.00 to $60.00 per ton had been recovered from the concentrates by roasting and chlorinating. Later, concentrates were treated with bromocyanide. Following that practice, a cyanide leaching plant was installed, which did not require concentration of the tailings. Cyanidation brought a recovery of around 95 per cent, with but $300 worth of plant. In Nova Scotia, the ore of each locality presents an individual problem of its own as to treatment required. Ma. W. B. Timm stated that, in the majority of Nova Scotia gold ores, more than 75 per cent of the gold content is free-milling and, naturally, stamps are most efficient for collecting and amalgamating this gold. In Ontario and the West, they had got away from stamps, and perhaps the main reason was that the supply of battery-men, who came from Nova Scotia, had died off. Ball-mills had been installed, which required smaller space and handled large tonnage, even though, as far as amalgamation goes, the stamps were probably more efficient. If concentration is to be done, ore from stamps is usually in better shape for recovery in passing over the tables, as there is no slime. With the ball-mill, flotation is necessary. The better practice, undoubtedly, is to take out what gold is possible before it is all smashed up, as in the ball-mill, though recent developments in the ball-mill make it possible to trap and take coarse gold directly from the mill. In this way, cyanidation is speeded-up, due to saving of the time the coarse gold would take before going into solution. PROFESSOR A. E. FLYNN found it unusual in these days to read anything in favour of the stamp mill, and thanked Mr. Henderson for the excellent paper in which he upholds the stamps and backs his opinion with facts from actual operations. For the typical Nova Scotia ore, containing coarse gold, stamps are un¬excelled. It used to be said that the virtue of stamps is that they brighten the gold for amalgamation. Although this saying is almost classical, it is not true, for gold is never brighter than in the native, untouched state. Any hammering that gold gets makes it more difficult to amalgamate.

"The Red Rose mine is in the Rocher Deboule mountains about 8 miles east of Skeena Crossing and a like distance south of the town of Hazelton; the most northerly settlement on the Prince Rupert line of the Canadian National railway and 177 miles northeast by rail from Prince Rupert. The mine workings are on the north side of Balsam or Red Rose creek; a tributary of Juniper creek that drains via Kitseguecla river into the Skeena near Skeena Crossing. A truck road 11 miles long extends from Skeen a Crossing (elevation 650 feet) to the Red Rose mill (elevation 4; 100 feet). The mine workings lie between 5; 600 and 6; 300 feet above sea-level. Mine and mill are connected by a 1-mile aerial tramway and a tractor trail.The Red Rose claims were staked about 1910 by prospectors attracted to the district by the construction and near completion of the railway between Prince Rupert and Jasper. For a number of years interest centred in prospecting a sheared zone exposed in a ravine between elevations of 5,425 and 5,825 feet. Several adits were driven and some high gold assays were obtained in vein quartz in the sheared zone, but this work did not develop sufficient ore and the property finally closed down. In the early twenties of this century tungsten minerals were discovered in the northern extension of the vein, but nothing was done to test this deposit. Finally, in 1940, spurred by the wartime demand for tungsten, the Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company of Canada drilled the tungsten-bearing vein, and although results were none too encouraging, underground work was begun in June 1941. The latter work disclosed substantial amounts of ore. A small mill, subsequently enlarged, began operation early in January 1942 and by the autumn of 1943 some 1,194,000 pounds of tungsten concentrate had been recovered. Mining ceased in November 1943 because of orders from the Metals Controller that no more shipments would be permitted."

Several occurrences of disseminated galena, including a former producing mine, are found in Pennsylvanian fluviatile sandstone of the Salmon River Basin, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Detailed study of the distribution of these occurrences has revealed that highest galena concentrations are found in sandstone overlying channel-shaped depressions in felsic basement rocks. These buried depressions, in turn, correlate in position with modern streams in areas of basement exposure. This correspondence suggests that the latter are at least partially controlled by an exhumed Pennsylvanian topography. If this is correct, then several other streams in the area, lying on basement, may be used to locate possible undiscovered lead deposits in sandstones of the Salmon River Basin.

For over 150 years gypsum from Nova Scotia has been shipped via water to the United States east coast. The history of the movement has been one of continual improvements in quarrying, loading, and shipping. At the start, man-size rock quarried by hand auger and black powder was loaded into horse-drawn carts, hauled to the waterfront, and dumped into 100-ton sailing schooners. Last year the Canadian Gypsum Company completed the latest and most modern of these successive installations for the movement of this Nova Scotia product. The new system loads crushed gypsum into 11,600-ton vessels at Hantsport in two hours' time at high tide. At the head of the bay of Fundy are located vast deposits of gypsum. The tidal rise and fall of 45 feet twice a day, with its attendant swift currents, has always presented major navigation and shipping problems. When the tide is low, the Hantsport ship-loading pier is high and dry, with no water within 400 feet. Three hours later a large river has flooded in (running up hill) and large steamers can dock at the wharf. Before high water, the ship has been loaded and -there is a depth of 30 feet or more of water around the wharf. At high water, the ship sails away on the ebbing tide as the river runs in the other direction. Tides are caused by the gravitational attraction of the moon and sun on the ocean. When both celestial bodies are pulling together the 'spring tide' results, which means a 50-foot variation from high to low. This occurs at new and full moon. A week later, when the sun and moon work in opposition, the difference is only 32 feet between high and low water. The bay of Fundy, having a funnel shape (150 miles wide at mouth from Yarmouth to Portland, while the upper estuary at Hantsport is only one mile wide), builds up a tidal influence from 10 feet at the mouth to an average of 45 feet at Hantsport.

"The Quesabe Mine, owned by Brunston Mines Limited, is a gold deposit in the south central part of Duprat Township, northwestern Quebec, about 10 miles northwest of Noranda.It is one of the few gold mines in Canada developed since World War II. The occurrence of gold in the Quesabe fault structure has been known for many years, but serious exploration did not begin until 1945. By 1949, 15,000 feet of diamond drilling had been completed and a shaft sunk to a depth of 635 feet, with lateral development on the 450 and 600 foot levels. In 1949 and 1950 a new shaft was sunk to 1,050 feet, new levels were established at 800 and 1,000 feet, and ore was mined and shipped to the Noranda smelter. After November 1950 the ore mined was treated in the company's own mill. The grade of ore was marginal under existing economic conditions, and production was suspended in April 1952. The mine produced about 100,000 tons of ore with an average grade of approximately 0.25 ounces of gold per ton.GeologyThe bedrock formations are all Precambrian, and the general geology of the area has been described by W. G. Robinson (1). The rocks in the vicinity of the mine are acidic and basic volcanics of the Keewatin series (andesite, rhyolite, agglomerates, tuffs) invaded by the Flavrian Lake granite stock, and by dykes and irregular masses of intrusive felsite, quartz porphyry, syenite-porphyry, diorite, and lamprophyre.The mine workings are in andesite and felsite, about 2,500 feet west of the western margin of the Flavrian Lake stock.The principal structural feature of the area, from an economic point of view, is the Quesabe fault. This steeply-dipping fault cuts all the rock formations of the area, and has been traced for about 11 miles along a strike of north 65 degrees east from Lake Arnoux in the northeast corner of Dasserat Township to Duprat Lake near the east boundary of Duprat Township."
