"Gold (Au) extraction is inefficient when crushed waste mobile phones (WMPs) are directly leached by ammonium thiosulfate likely because of the cementation/precipitation of dissolved Au in the presence of base metals like copper (Cu), iron (Fe) and/or aluminum (Al). This study applied physical separation techniques to remove base metals as well as plastics and concentrate the Au containing fractions from WMPs prior to leaching. Coarse fraction of crushed WMP (+2-5.6 mm) was pretreated by jig and magnetic separation to remove plastics and base metals like Fe, Cu, and Al, while the fine fraction (-2 mm) was pretreated by flotation, and float and sink separation. The leaching results showed that Au extraction increased in both of the size fractions. In the coarse fraction, Au extraction increased by as much as 2-fold after pretreated (from 4 to 7%). Improvement of Au extraction in the fine fractions after pretreatments were even more dramatic. Au extraction increased from 4 to 61%. These results indicate that physical pretreatment to remove co-existing common metals and plastics is effective to improve Au extraction from WMPs. INTRODUCTION Global sales of mobile phones are expected to increase steadily in the foreseeable future because a lot of people buy newer phones with upgraded and more advanced functions almost every two years, which leads to the higher generation of waste mobile phones (WMPs). WMPs contain a wide variety of materials including plastics, glasses, base metals and precious metals such as gold (Au). Among all the valuable materials in WMPs, Au accounts for over 80% of its total metal price (Park et al., 2017), so recovery of Au from WMPs is needed."

India plans to increase the nuclear power share in overall energy-mix to about 30% by 2032 using both indigenous and imported reactor technologies. In the immediate time-frame, it is envisaged to generate 10000 MW electricity by PHWR technology by 2020 using indigenous uranium resources. This necessitates setting-up of new uranium mills and augmenting the existing resource, mining and milling capacities. "The purpose of the study is to study the feasibility of using sodium diisobutyl dithiophosphinate (DDP) to enhance the recovery of platinum group elements from low-grade refractory copper-nickel ores characterized by a portion of nickel and platinum group elements (PGEs) locked in the dominant sulfide mineral — pyrrhotite. These ore characteristics dictate the need to produce a bulk PGE-containing sulfide concentrate due to the difficulties of producing selective concentrates without a significant loss of the metals.New data on the adsorption and flotation performance of DDP-containing collectors were obtained by measuring the electrode potential, hydrophobicity of the sulfide mineral surfaces and by means of extraction spectrophotometry and flotation studies. The interaction between DDP, pyrrhotite, and pentlandite leads to the formation of surface hydrophobic layers consisting mainly of disulfide and a small amount of metal compounds. These adsorption layers are formed by the reaction with butyl xanthate. In the case of cooperite, DDP reacts with the surface, forming not only disulfide, as in the case of butyl xanthate, but also a complex platinum compound. DDP-containing agents demonstrate stronger collecting properties with respect to sulfide minerals of copper-nickel ores compared to butyl xanthate, which is explained by a stronger hydrophobizing effect and foaming properties.The addition of a combination of DDP-containing agents and butyl xanthate at a ratio of 3:1 for the recovery of sulfides and PGEs in the bulk flotation of copper-nickel ore made it possible to improve the recovery of Ni, Pt, and Pd by 13.6, 9.2, and 9.4%, respectively, relative to the recovery achieved in flotation with butyl xanthate.Bulk flotation with the addition of a composition of DDP-containing agents and butyl xanthate allows the most complete recovery of all valuable elements and is the only technologically feasible method for processing of lowgrade ores, when it is impossible to produce without loss high-grade selective concentrates suitable for smelting."

A large scale a polymetallic mine in north China is a refractory ore containing many useful com-ponents: W, Mo, Cu and Fe. Mineralogical investigation shows that the deposit is a quite complex one due to fine disseminated size and unevenly distribution of valuable, intergroth of sulphide and tungsten minerals, concurrence of scheelite and calcium minerals. Based on ore characteristic, a flowsheet is used by the floatation processing of sulfide minerals superior to scheelite. Bulk sulphide flotation is used in sulphides. Mo and Cu are floated in sequence after sulphides regrinded. Tungsten mineral is floated using combined depressant that is an effective depressant to gangue, and can improve the grade of rough tungsten concentrate. Compound depressant has high effective in removal of collector in gangue and sulphide, and tungsten is activated also. High quality of tungsten concentrate is obtained at satisfactory recovery. The test production obtains Mo concentrate with grade of 48.16%, recovery of 81.43%; W concentrate with grade of 66.47%, recovery of 78.19%; Cu concentrate with grade of 23.14%, recovery of 56.6%; Fe concentrate with grade of 67.33%. The valuable metals are recovered comprehensively and well techno-economic index is obtained. The mine enterprise profit is increased greatly.

"The goal of prospecting operations in the Republic of Altay was to locate gold-sulfide-quartz mineralization. For this purpose we applied the technology of electromagnetic sounding and induced polarization (EMS-IP). These operations resulted in localizing promising sites with presence of sulfidization. The EMS-IP method proved to be highly efficient amongst other prospecting methods targeted at recognizing zones of sulfide mineralization making up 91%, considering that in more than half cases the ore intervals were the case. In the Yakutian diamondiferous province the EMS-IP technology was approbated during three field seasons to accomplish the assignments on searching for kimberlite bodies under conditions of various geological types. As a result, the reference objects were distinguished, and geoelectric parameters of kimberlite pipes of explosion were defined.INTRODUCTION In the time span 2015-2016 in Gorny Altay the EMS-IP technology was approbated in the Novokuznetsk area. The on-land areal geophysical survey was performed by EMS-IP method applied to identify, outline and locate promising sites with Au-Ag-bearing polymetallic mineralization within surveyed areas. Compared to the hosting rocks, the sulfides contained in polymetallic mineralization are typified by low specific electrical resistivity (SER) and high polarization. The areal survey conducted via EMS-IP method provided spatial characteristics of searched object. From July 2016 to August 2017 our expedition group carried out serial test works and laboratory investigations intending to define performance capabilities of EMS-IP technology in searching for kimberlite bodies under conditions of diverse geological types. The prerequisites for serial work were operations accomplished at the «Listvenichny» site lying 35 km away from Mirny town in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), where the EMS-IP technology was probed for locating position and measuring geoelectric parameters of tuff pipe «Buardakhsky». After successful completion of operations it was decided to evaluate geoelectric parameters of kimberlite pipes of explosion."

Due to not to being our own sources, some energy sources such as oil and natural gas which are used frequently, are not reliable energy sources for our country. Coal is an important energy source that Turkey also has a certain reserve as many countries have. To be able to use for many years the reserves of this source that comes from fossils, there is a great need to make more investigation and development activities on it. On behalf of using more productively the current sources, briquetting facility is represented that commenced production in The Aegean Lignite Establishment in 2005 which is in Manisa, Soma. This facility is a part of General Directorate of Turkish Coal. This facility is run by Soma Coal Establishment that works in return for royalty in a licensed field that belongs to TKI. As the demand of market for 0.5 mm dust coal diminishes, we had to accumulate and stock unmerchantable dust coal. Besides, we have intermixed 0.5- 1 mm powder coal and 0.1 ? 0.5 mm fine powder coal obtained as a result of washing in coal washer with thermic coal with low price as we could not find a client in the market. In this study, the production stages of briquette coal with high quality produced as a result of pressing by mixing 0.5- 1 mm powder coal and 0.1 ? 0.5 mm fine powder coal with molasse and lime, quality control, and data?s obtained about calories and solidity of products were presented. By briquetting of 0.5- 1 mm powder coal and 0.1 ? 0.5 mm fine powder coal washed in coal washer, it became possible to sell these coals on a high unit price and by providing the demand of coal of the market, we contributed to productivity of our firm. Soil reconstruction and improvement trials and vegetation experiment is carried out at Shuilong-shan acid rock waste dumps at Dexing Copper Mine in China. pH value, Cu2+, Pb2+, Zn2+, etc. concentration in acid rock drainage (ARD) is also monitored every month since 2005. The results of experiment show that: Lime and topsoil stripped from open-pit is appropriated soil improvement material. Full cover soil improvement method is suitable for flat area, contour soil improvement method and hole soil improvement method is appropriate for slope area. The optimal plant species is ligustrum lucidum Ait,Lespedeza bicolor, Paspalum notatum, Veti-veria zizanioides, Eragrostis pilos and Neyraudia reynaudian. It is the best for Arbor, shrub and grass to be arranged in pairs or groups in order to remold optimal landscape. Pilot sites, covering 3ha, is established. Vegetation coverage reaches 90% in platform area, 40% in slope area. pH value in ARD increased slightly, Cu2+, Pb2+ concentration in ARD decreased, Zn2+ concentration in ARD decreased and varied slightly.

China is a country with abundant resources of tungsten, taking one of the world?s top-positions regarding both the total reserve and the amount of industrial production. China?s tungsten resources occur mostly in multi-metallic deposits rather than in single-metallic deposits. China?s multi-metallic tungsten ores have the characteristics of coexistence with other valuable components such as molybdenum, bismuth, copper, sulfur and fluorite. These ores are usually low in grade and difficult to process. The technological challenge in mineral processing lies in separation of multi-metallic components in these complex ores and a comprehensive utilization of natural resource. Several cases of industrial practice of processing China?s typical multi-metallic tungsten ores are presented.

PET/kaolin nanocomposites were prepared with melt blending and the structure of the composites was characterized through IR techniques. The results showed that there is stable chemical bonding between PET and kaolin. In addition, the dispersion condition of nanokaolin was observed by means of SEM and TEM. As a result, the thickness of the dispersed nanokaolin particles in PET matrix is mainly from 20mm to 200nm, and the nanosized particles congregate to some extent in the samples. In addition, it was found the kaolin particles almost homogeneously dispersed in the PET matrix, without preferential orientation because of the shear effect due to melt blending. Furthermore, the mechanical properties of PET/kaolin nanocomposites are dependent on the modification efficiency of nanokaolin. With the poor efficiency, the nanokaolin particles tend to aggregate at a high content and have a bad interfacial compability between nanokaolin and PET matrix, which lead to stress concentration, so the mechanical property descends. Experiments of different contents of modified nanokalin indicated that the intensity of PET/kaolin nanocomposites decreased firstly, then increased, and then decreased, with the nanokaolin content of 4 to 5 percent, the rupture stress of the composites showed a maximum value, which was higher than that of pure PET. On one hand, nanokaolin decreases the function among PET macromolecules, which will decline the mechanical properties, on the other hand, the piece structure of kaolinite improves the intensity of the nanocomposite. When the nanokaolin content is low, the former has the dominant effect on mechanical property, while the latter will play a leading role with the content increasing. But if the nanokaolin content still increases, the agglomeration and stress concentration will be obvious.

"There is abundant rare-earth element(REE) in our country, but it is very fragmented in the earth's crust, and it is very difficult to mining or mining cost is extremely high. There are few of industrial value rare-earth deposits. There is a lot of concomitant rare-earth deposits, and the comprehensive utilization value is high. There is very rich carlin-type gold resource, associated with a certain amount of REE in the southwest of Guizhou province. In order toutilize comprehensively the resources, this paper conducts the study on the occurrence characteristics of REE in the ore. By the chemical analysis, the gold grade is 3.35g/t, the organic carbon 0.81%, the total REE 0.022%, which is a high carbon fine disseminated gold ore. By the optical microscope and XRD analysis, the major minerals are quartz, pyrite, calcite, limonite, arsenopyrite, mica, kaolinite, clay minerals, etc. In addition, there is a large amount of carbonaceous materials, such as organic carbon, graphite, which is harmful on leaching of gold. By the scanning electron microscopy analysis, there are thorium, lanthanum and neodymium, ytterbium, persimmon and other REE in the ore. Gravity separation shows that REE could be enriched to lighter material mainly, which indicates that REE disseminate closely with lighter materials.INTRODUCTION Carlin-type gold ore is important gold resource in the world, which are mainly distributed in Nevada and its vicinity, as well as the two Golden Triangle of Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi and Sichuan, Shanxi, Gansu province in China(Su W.C. et al.,2009; Xia G.X.,1996).Guizhou carlin-type gold ore is the second largest gold resource in the world(Muntean J L et al.,2011), distributing along the southwestern margin of the Yangtze plate, mainly mineralizing in the neopaleozoic-early mesozoic(Xie Z J et al.,2017). Many large gold deposits have been found in southwest in Guizhou in twentieth century, such as Zimuyou,Getang, Lannigou, Shuiyindong and Laowanchang gold deposit, and so on, and the gold reserves reach over 100 tons(Xia Y. et al.,2009).There is a certain amount of rare-earth resource in the carlin-type gold ore in the southwest in Guizhou province, and the current researches might mainly focus on characteristics of REE from the angle of geological mineralization(AnanyevY.,2015), not from the angle of separation and enrichment."

Reverse-flotation technology is often applied in iron ore dressing plant, in order to enhance the quality of iron concentrate from magnetic separation. However, this technology has disadvantages in operating cost, energy consumption, and environmental protection. Developing innovative equipment to process magnetite ore more-effectively is a way to get rid of these disadvantages of reverse flotation and improve the quality of iron concentrate. This paper describes the development of Complex Flashing-Field Magnetic Cleaner, a new kind of equipment based on the principle of combination of separation in magnetic field and separation in gravity field. This innovative equipment possesses a tailor-made magnetic system and has the characteristics of a magnetic field, which can strengthen the formation of magnetic agglomerations and the dispersion of gangue minerals, improving the quality of separation. The automatic control system developed specifically for this equipment can further increase the accuracy of separation and stabilize the process. Test results showed that this equipment is reliable in operation, economically beneficial, and has large potential of application.

Calaverite is a gold telluride found in the Kalgoorlie region, Fiji, Cripple Creek Colorado and numerous other locations. It is known that a high pH is necessary for calaverite cyanidation, with the leach rate increasing substantially above pH 12 due to the hydroxide ion concentration. In most circumstances lime is used to achieve high pH, however lime saturates at approximately pH 12, limiting the maximum pH obtainable in a critical region for calaverite leaching. Plant observations, laboratory experiments and thermodynamic modelling show that the maxi-mum hydroxide ion concentration that can be achieved with lime (CaO) is strongly dependent on common ions. The presence of calcium, as commonly found in saline waters, substantially diminishes the maximum pH that can be obtained with lime. Conversely the presence of sulfate ions, as generated through oxidation of sulfides, substantially increases the maximum pH that can be achieved with lime. Sulfide oxidation during cyanide leaching of complex ores may generate acid and sulfate ions, making overdosing with lime at the front of the circuit, or staged addition down the leach train, important to maintaining the maximum hydroxide concentration.

A culture-independent approach based on 16S rRNA gene clone library was used to analyze the bacterial community change both associated to the solids and in the liquid phase during pyrite bioleaching process. Phylogenetic analyses of 16S rRNA fragments revealed that the retrieved se-quences mainly related to genus Leptospirillum, genus Sulfobacillus and genus Acidithiobacillus. During the bioleaching process, genus Leptospirillum trends to grow associated to the solids while major of genus Sulfobacillus were in the liquid fase, only accounting little portion in the solids. Genus Acidithiobacillus can grow both on the solids and in the liquid phase, but accounting high portion on the solids.

In this paper the possibility to complete the copper recovery and to enrich in PVC a mixture of plastic granules obtained by grinding electrical cables are investigated. The recovery of a large part of the copper still present among the plastic granules was possible by means of a mechanical screening, the finer polymeric fraction was collected, at the same time. In order to complete the copper polymer separation the following techniques were employed. Counter current separation in water, static dense medium separation with zinc chloride solution and copper extraction with nitric acid and subsequent electrolytic deposition. A Tri-Flo® dynamic dense medium separator was employed in order to separate the lighter polymeric fraction, from the heavier polymeric fraction, mainly PVC. Water or a salt-water solution was employed to feed the separator device.

The low-grade nickel resource is very abundant in the western China. To make the best of the low grade nickel ore, we studied the process mineralogy and beneficiation process of nickel ore in the Yangliuping of Sichuan province. The grade of nickel is 0.45% in the nickel ore and the nickel exists in the sulfide including pyrrhotite, nickel pyrite, chalcopyrite primarily. The nickel distributes in pentlandite and magnetite over 90% and the copper does in the chalcopyrite over 95%. The carri-er minerals of useful elements tend to concentrate in space for concentration. As is shown in grain-size analysis of three major minerals, there are some more fine-grained grains with the percent of from 10% to 15% (<40 µm) and from 3.5% to 5.5% (<20 µm). So there will be some smaller size disseminated sulfide minerals difficulty to liberate in the process of concentration. The liberation degree of sulfide is not high and there are much associativity in the sulfides. Therefore, we should reclaim the sulfide aggregation dominating as pentlandite when concentrating. In addition, the sulphide minerals is so brittle that we should take care of preventing from crashing when grinding. The gangue mineral is mostly metamorphic mineral including serpentine, chlorite and amphibole which is easy to be argillization and difficult to concentrate.

The life cycle assessment method is applied to investigate the environmental impacts of cop-per-slag and copper-ore concentration process. Some environmental load data of copper production are obtained. The result indicates that damage level of human health, ecosystem quality and re-sources respectively is 0.174, 0.0203, 0.246 in the copper-slag concentration and 0.112, 0.0136, 0.299 in the copper-ore concentration. Environmental impact of copper-slag production (0.44) is more than that of copper-ore production (0.42), but can meet the environmental protect demand. With domestic copper concentrate supply gap enlarging, recovering copper from slag will lead to a significant improving of resource utilization and development of circulation economics.

During the phosphating of car bodies containing aluminium, the employed phosphating chemicals zinc, manganese and nickel are, for thermodynamic reasons, only used to a limited extent for the desired surface coating. The major proportion of these metals is discharged together with the incidental cryolite-containing phosphating sludges and the rinse water. Commissioned by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Institute of Mineral and Waste Processing, Waste Disposal and Geomechanics at the Clausthal University of Technology has developed a two-stage process for the production-integrated recovery of the dragged out chemicals and for closing the rinse water cycle for Audi AG. During the first stage, the phosphating chemicals are recovered by means of leaching. In the second stage, the rinse water is treated by means of electroflotation followed by an ion exchanger.

In this study, the QEMSCAN technology is used to acquire quantitative modal, textural, mineral association and liberation data on different products generated from with or without washing, fractionation by size and density using screens and heavy liquids/panning, which has provided significant information on the quality and beneficiability of four categories of low Grade iron ores from Jharkhand-Orissa region. The deposit of low Grade iron ore has been categorized into four categories viz. Grade-I with <45% Fe(t) a) containing shale rich type and b) BHJ rich type; Grade-II with 45-55% Fe(t) and Grade-III with >55% Fe(t) containing conventional flaky, hard, kanga, lateritic, shale and BHJ litho/ore types in varied proportions. Mineralogy is similar across all samples being hematite, martite, goethite, kaolinite and gibbsite. Banded Hematite Jasper has difficult liberation characteristics due to highly compact banded mode of silica mineral occurrence with hematite. In all categories, the grade dilution is by the presence of 1) ?Discrete gangue rich litho types? at lump size and 2) ?Within ore types?. The second type of grade dilution contains coating of gangue phases around the iron ore minerals and different degree of locking of gangue phases within iron ore minerals. Further characterization and beneficiation assessment details are discussed in this paper.

Shizhuyuan is a world-class WO3, Mo, Bi and CaF2 poly-metallic deposit; it has rich reservation, but great difficulty in ore?s processing; thereby, for many years, it has been the target problem of beneficiation technologies. This paper, while briefly reviews its main scientific and technological advancement, pays special attention to the complete set of new technology and technical index achieved in recent years, which is characterized by using full-floatation flow-sheet as the backbone flow-sheet, explores some key factors influencing tungsten floatation, and presents a brief introduction to such new equipment as flotation column and comprehensive utilization of fluorite.

Bioleaching of marmatite with various mixed cultures of microorganisms was investigated. The experiments were carried out in shaking flasks with iron-free nutrient and the pulp density of 10% wt/vol at the temperature of 30?. The results show that zinc is preferentially leached before iron. The leaching rate of zinc with the mixed culture of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans, Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans and Leptospirillum ferrooxidans is 62% in 18 days. The leaching rate of zinc with the mixed culture of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans is nearly the same as that with the mixed culture of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and Leptospirillum ferrooxidans (45% versus 50%). SEM and EDX analysis of the leaching residues indicate that a solid product layer composed of iron sulfide, elemental sulfur and jarosite accumulates in the mineral surface and becomes a barrier to the dissolution of marmatite. The bioleaching of marmatite follows the shrinking core product layer model. When the product layer increases and becomes insoluble, the leaching rate is controlled by the diffusion through the product layer and slows down. When the product layer decreases or becomes a porous layer, the leaching rate is controlled by chemical reaction and enhanced dramatically.
