For the application of sodium carbonate slag treatment to product high purity copper on an industrial scale, the counter-flow batch process that reduces the amount of utilized slag is proposed from the viewpoint of the post-treatment of slag. Based on the distribution ratios of several impurities between the slag and molten copper determined previously, the effectiveness of this process is discussed using a mathematical model and confirmed experimentally. According to the model, the slag consumption to remove Sb to a required level in case of the counter-flow batch process with 3 reactors is calculated to be around 30 % of that in the case of an ordinary batch process, where pure sodium carbonate is used as a slag at every stage.

Compared with the traditional de-NOx processes by cleaning the waste gas, a new approach for reducing the formation of NOx during sintering process is proposed. Since more than 90vol% of NOx comes from the fuel combustion, the influence of sintering coke breeze pretreated by CO(NH2)2 additive on the NOx emission is researched. As adding CO(NH2)2, the reduction agents (NHi) are generated during the pyrolysis of CO(NH2)2, which reinforce the NOx reduction, And the appropriate content of CO(NH2)2 is 1.0 mass% of coke breeze.

Four three-phase equilibria and one two-phase equilibrium in the FeNi- S-0 quaternary system in the vicinity of 1023 K and Pso2 = 1 atm were studied using the following emf cell 2 Pt,o2 (air)Zr02 .CaO/Pso2 = 1 atm, mixture of phases, Au The four three-phase equilibria are sp + (Fe,Ni )S + Ni 3s2, sp + Ni 3s2 + NiO, sp + NiO + N1S04 and Fe2 o3 + sp + (Fe,NOS04 -Y:he two-phase equilibrium is sp + (Fe,Ni)S. The two-.phase equilibrium was measured by using mixtures containing a major portion of one phase and a minor portion of the other. The results are presented in terms of oxygen potential as a function of YNi = nNi/(nN1+nFe) at constant temperature and pso2 = 1 atm. The stability diagram was also calculated using appropriate thermodynamic models for all the pertinent phases. The calculated diagram is in accord with the measured ones.

"Decomposition of ammonium tetramolybdate to prepare Mo03 using silicon carbide crucible in microwave fields was investigated. The results were analyzed Using TG-DTG and X-ray diffraction. Meanwhile, the effects of heating rat, material thickness, socking time, socking temperature on the structure of preparing Mo03 were studied. TG-DTG curves show that the decomposition process of ammonium tetramolybdate is only one stage, in the temperature range 300-350°C, whose begin to decompose when temperature increases beyond 300°C. The molybdenum trioxide was prepared by thermal decomposition. The quality ofMo03 was not affected under the heating rat is 12°C/min. It was beneficial for decomposition ratio with the lower material thickness, longer soaking time, and higher soaking temperature. XRD curves showed that it is viable method for preparation of Mo03 by decomposition from ammonium tetramolybdate in microwave fields.IntroductionMolybdenum is widely used in national defense, aviation, industrial and agricultural production as rare refractory metal. Molybdenum trioxide is vital raw materials for the process of preparation of molybdenum. The traditional production technology of molybdenum oxide is that ammonium tetramolybdate is calcined in rotary kiln or 4-tube furnace [J,2J. But the longer production time, the higher production cost, the lower furnace thermal efficiency, and bigger the energy consumption, especially the powder is easy to leak, the working environment is poor by using rotary kiln [ 3 l _ The particle of molybdenum oxide is non-uniform by using 4-tube furnace because of the uneven temperature of every tube and the poor exhaust of boat bottom [4l _ However microwave heating is quick and uniformity, it is a meaningful research that the microwave is used in the process of calcining ammonium tetramolybdate."

The interface between the matrix and the reinforcing fiber plays an important role in the efficiency by which an applied load is transmitted through the composite structure. The shear stress at the fiber/matrix interface can be associated with this load transference and,consequently,affects the composite strength. In the present work, pullout tests were used to evaluate the interfacial shear stress of curaua fiber in epoxy matrix composites. A small critical length was found for the curaua fiber embedded in epoxy, which corresponds to a relatively weak fiber/matrix bond and lower interfacial strength.

Cadmium is toxic to plant, animals and humans. The council directive of the European Communities No 8315 13lEEC has fixed an upper limit of 200 ppb for the release of cadmium in industrial effluents. The conventional method of neutralization/prccipitation ( NIP ) is inefficient to reach this limit. The objective of this study is to test the efficiency of the trees modified bark to remove cadmium cations from industrial effluents after the conventional treatment by NIP. Laboratory scale tests with synthetic solutions show that the cadmium removal depends upon pH and initial concentration. About 99.9 %, 99 % and 96 % of the metal are removed from synthetic solutions containing 10, 100 and 1000 ppm respectively. Pilot plant trials ( 1 m3 ) with an industrial effluent bearing about 500 ppb of cadmium lead to the almost complete elimination of the cadmium ( final concentration is lower than the analytical detection limits < 20 ppb ).

Calcium ferrite, as the main bonding phase in the sintering process, greatly influences the property of sintered ore. Ultrasonic vibration has been widely applied to the treatment of metals to improve the properties of metals. In this work, ultrasonic vibration was introduced into the calcium ferrite and numerical simulation was carried out by solving the Rayleigh-Plesset equation to investigate the influence of ultrasonic conditions, including frequency, power and initial radii of cavitation bubbles on the cavitation bubbling behavior in calcium ferrite melt. The results indicated that lower ultrasonic frequency, higher power, and an appropriate initial radius of bubble promotes ultrasonic cavitation.

In this paper, based on the big data in steelmaking process, equation about the relationship between steel composition (especially the oxygen content) and the element yield is established by using mathematical analysis method to analyze the factors influencing yield. Meanwhile, combining the alloy yield data-base that were established based on self-learning of historical data and computer technology in steelmaking process, a method of yield prediction of alloy elements is studied. To provide support for this method, alloying elements yield prediction software is developed to realize the rapid and intuitive site operation guidance, and to realize the precise control of dosage of alloy material.

An attempt has been made on the concentration of Platinum Group Metals (PGM) from the converter matte material by microbial .leaching. Biological oxidation of base metal sulfides such as iron, copper, nickel and free sulfur present in the matte material using Thiobacillus ferrooxidans is an alternative method to concentrate the PGM-and gold. The method which produces a platinum group metals concentrate is comparable to chemical processes and electrochemical process.

"Both composition and porosity of pellets are the main parameters influencing the reductive melting process in water-jacket furnace during the roasting of sulfide lead concentrate. Roasting in a smelter located in Trepçë is done at about 9000C, for pellets which are composed of PbS, CaCO3, Fe2O3, and SiO2. In order to faciltiate the formation of slag in the reductive melting, the pellets must have the proper content of CaO, SiO2, and FeO, and porosity. The plant’s practice indicates that pellets with porosity of 18% do not melt adequately in the water-jacket furnace. The optimum porosity for the proper melting of pellets needs to be 32-40% and can be achieved when pellets are loaded with more than 10 wt.% CaO. Pellets with less than 10% CaO have a limited network of pores, such that reactive gases cannot reach the entire ore structure. Also, the composition of the pellets must satisfy the ratio of CaO : SiO2 : FeO = 1 : 1.2 : 1.8 to facilitate the formation of slag in the reductive melting process.IntroductionAgglomeration roasting of sulfide lead concentrate is an important phase in the production of lead by reductive melting [1-6]. The reductive melting process is a complex process with contradictory effects of several technological indexes which many times are hard to measure and determine. In this process, loading the water-jacket furnace with pellets of optimized composition and structure can reduce the consumption of coke, and achieve high level of lead recovery. "Comparing with the single electrode in electroslag remelting processes, two series-connected electrodes have the advantage of little inductance, lower power consumption and higher melting rate, which was widely used to produce superalloys and specialty steels. Detailed understanding of the electromagnetic field distribution is essential for both improving ingot quality and saving electric energy. In the present work, a 3D finite element model was developed for the magnetic field, electromagnetic force, current density and Joule heating field of electro slag remelting processes (electrode, slag and ingot) with two series-connected electrodes using Maxwell equation, Lorentz law and Joule law. The results show that the maximum current distribute occur at the middle of electrode, due to the interaction of selfinduced and mutual-induced of two series-connected electrode; associated magnetic flux density on the inner side of electrode increase and the outer decrease; The maximum joule heating is at the interface of slag and electrode. The parameter study shows that if the current frequency is greater than 35Hz, the current density in inner electrode tend to linear distribution; with the increasing of original current, The maximum current density near the wall in electrode will increase linearly; with the increasing of electrode innnersion depth and decrease of slag cap thickness and the maximum of the joule heat in slag will increase.IntroductionElectroslag remelting processes(ESR) are widely used to produce superalloys and specialty steels [l-3l_Two pair, four pair or six pair electrodes in electroslag remelting processes is common in casting large scale ingot, which has the advantage of little inductance, lower power consumption and higher melting rate, comparing to singe electrode. They have the same essence with two electrodes in ESR.Compared to the single electrode ofESR, the other electrode is added which can decrease the reactive resistance and power consumption in the two electrodes of ESR. It is a complicated metallurgy process with a series physical and chemistry phenomenon from the molten of steel to the solidification of ingot [4-71_ These physical and chemistry phenomenon originated the effect of alternating current of high intensity. The rule of the alternating current of high intensity which revealed the law of physical and chemistry phenomenon in ESR is the precondition of improving ingot quality and saving electric energy. Jihe Wei and Yongli Ren[S-9lstudied the distribution of electromagnetic field in single electrode ofESR with Maxwell equation and relative electromagnetic theory. It had the limitation that take the electrode and mold as infinite conductivity. A detail analysis of Electromagnetic fields in ESR had been conducted by Patel A D [JO-llJ using general stream-function formulation. It is difficult to extend to three dimensions which could not be used widely. Daniel V [lZJ and Kharicha A [BJ only analysis the current density associated magnetic flux density field and temperature field without the whole irlformation of electromagnetic field. Maopeng Geng [l4J considered the current density and temperature field of the real and fake electrodes in ESR without skin effect. As to the complication of the two electrodes of ESR, it is rarely reported the electromagnetic field and Joule heating field of the two electrodes in ESR. The rule of effect of electromagnetic and modification of numerical simulation should be studied in depth."

"A new model for internal oxidation, as well as similar processes, has been implemented on computer. It is based upon a combination of random walk and cellular automata and is capable of treating 3-dimensional cases. To model diffusion, it utilises quantised units of matter. All steps of the process are included: nucleation, growth and coarsening. The effect of grain boundaries on diffusion as well as nucleation is taken into account. Further possible development is briefly discussed; especially the treatment of nucleation needs further consideration. IntroductionComplex diffusion-controlled processes may now be simulated on a routine basis when concentration varies along one co-ordinate only. One-dimensional simulations capture much of the information of interest but not all. For the case at hand, especially the spatial and the size distribution of precipitates, as well as the impact of grain boundaries, would be interesting information not accessible from 1-D simulationsSolving the full Fick-Onsager law in three dimensions does not seem feasible with the computers of today. In the model described in this article, random walk by quantised units of matter are considered. The model should be useful for a number of cases involving dispersed systems. With further development, it would indeed seem possible to simulate most types of phase transformations.Previous workWe have previously published two articles [1,2] on the new approach discussed in this work. In those articles we described the basic idea and showed, among other things, that very good agreement with an experimental concentration profile can be obtained, in a single-phase system, using independently assessed thermodynamic and kinetic data. MMAJ, a govemmental organization in Japan, has carried out a 4 year project for the development of the decontamination and metals recovering technology for the fly ashes from municipal waste incineration. Heavy metals (zinc, lead and copper) are recovered as raw materials for the non-ferrous metals production, without formation of any waste materials to be disposed. More than 500 thousands tonnes a year of fly ashes generation from the municipal waste incineration has been one of the main social issues in Japan, because most of them need to be disposed to the registered areas after decontamination, and occupy 5% of the municipal wastes disposed. The segregation, flotation and chemical process are applied to the treatment of the primary fly ash from municipal waste incineration, and MF (Mitsui-type blast furnace) Process after the chlorine removal to the secondary fly ash. The main results of experiments are -About 90% of heavy metals, zinc, lead and copper, can be recovered from the primary and the secondary fly ashes to the products for the non-ferrous metals production. -Both of the leaching residue from the primary fly ash treatment and the slag from the secondary fly ash treatment can be used as a raw material for the cement production, meaning that the decontamination technology for the ashes without the landfill has been established. -Dioxins in the primary ash can be decomposed satisfactorily, and the dioxins content in the segregation furnace gas is less than O.lng-TEQ/Nm3 without any gas cleaning system

Research projects contain many stages of development from the conception of an idea to a fullscale commercial operation. The transition from laboratory-scale research to bench-scale roasting can represent a significant increase in complexity and cost, depending on how many variables are being evaluated. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) can simulate roasting conditions and produce a small sample for chemical analysis or materials characterization. A simultaneous thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetry (TG–DSC) can identify endothermic and exothermic reaction temperatures. Using thermal analysis, some of the process variables can be tested and eliminated such as ore and reagent blends, retention times, operating temperatures, and some atmospheres.

Adding CaO into the vanadium extraction converter is an effective way to decrease the dephosphorization burden in subsequent steelmaking process. The crystallisation process of spinel is one of the most decisive factors in the subsequent extraction. The theoretical calculation results show that the temperature of the peak total crystallization rate will decrease 5K with basicity increasing 0.1. The relation between cooling conditions and grain size of spinels is also discussed. It is found that low cooling rate and high basicity benefit spinel crystal growth. And the non-isothermal crystallization kinetics results indicated that the restriction factors of spinel growth is that solid crystals accept new components from liquid-solid interfacial. While the sample was cooled down to 1250 (1523K) at cooling rate of 5K/min, the crystal growth is consistent with Ostwald coarsening grew up law, and controlled by diffusion of particle.
